From this coming weekend (16/17 May) Spokecycles.cc are introducing RIDE THRU COFFEE at its' Codicote HQ: our pre-covid cake, coffee and beer but in a fast food setting. With the welfare of our customers and staff paramount we believe we can safely offer a takeaway service to individual and pairs of riders and small family groups, hopefully restoring some small pleasure into these confusing times. Dog walkers, walkers, horse riders and other civvies are all welcome.
The indoor café will remain closed (the workshop is open on an appointment basis) but outdoor seating, laid out to ensure social distance, will be available. Customers will be served one at a time, and asked to maintain social distance while they queue. Drinks will be served in fully recyclable, take away cups and food in paper bags; beer to be chugged from the bottle! Clients will be asked to bus their own tables using the appropriate bin. Hand washing facilities are available. Initially we will operate on a cashless or exact cash basis.
Once more we will be able to look again into each other’s faces and smile, from a distance for now, but like a spring for the soul those green shoots of connectivity will bud and blossom and grow and soon we will share wheels and ride together once more. But for now, having somewhere to ride to and being able to meet across a safe distance and share a drink and a bun seems like a great leap forward.
Opening times: Tues-Fri 1000-1600, Weekends and Bank Holidays 0900-1500, closed Mondays (except Bank Holidays).
